India's growth and achievements in various sectors are short of the international comparison due to governance issues in these sectors. Our performances in health services or education sectors are the best examples in this case. Post- 1991, apart from various reforms in the economic policies, India has also begun taking positive steps in administrative reforms to back these policies. The last two decades have also witnessed a complete overhauling of administrative and political reforms in India with the technological revolution within and from outside India.
On the background of this, it is extremely necessary to revisit some best governance and administrative practices that we have inherited from the glorious past we had. And for the case in question, nothing can be better than the contribution by Chanakya to the thought on Political Economy of India. In fact, there have been a number of efforts in the past to interpret and comment on Kautaliya Arthashastra, Laghuchanakya, Vruddhachanakya, Chanakya Rajaniti and Chanakya Nitidarpan. But there have been very few efforts to interpret and comment of Chanakya Sutras and it is really noteworthy that this book "Chanakyasutrani with Meaning & Description" fills this gap.
"Chanakyasutrani with Meaning & Description" with translation and commentary by Ramavatar Vidyabhaskar is one of the significant contributions to Indian literature on Governance. It speaks of Chanakya's principles of governance in the Indian perspective with methodologies which are Indian in spirit.
