In today's world, the states and governments continuously raise voices advocating the need of incorporating value-education in the curricula. At this moment of ethical crises, it becomes wise as well as pertinent to know what the seers of the past have said on the deeper problems of life. The present book seeks to search how the great preceptor Canakya has sought to supply us with an ordered scheme of life. One finds the spiritual values as well as practical wisdom embedded in the niti verses of Canakya which can make our worldly journey beautiful and meaningful. The ideas of Canakya have been substantiated by the Vedic as well as classical sources and when needed, have been refuted too.
The translations of the Canakyanitidarpana in various foreign languages amply show the flow of ideas that connect people from different countries and divergent historical backgrounds. In this way, the present translation tries to make the readers understand that the people of the presently divided world share, to some extent a common literary or broadly speaking, common cultural heritage.
