The Indian Renaissance owes its birth and growth to spiritual leaders, from Rammohan Roy to Swami Vivekananda. Swami Vivekananda dove deep into the ocean of Spirit in all its magnificent beauty. His entire message to humanity was based on his firsthand spiritual realization, a unique capacity that gave a halo to his personality and a solid foundation to his mission. His ability to teach from experience commands our respect. His fresh, invigorating, practical and rational message finds a loving place in the minds of modern intellectuals. We urgently need a spiritually inspiring scheme of life today which ennobles us morally and gives us physical strength a new gospel.
Swami Vivekananda gave humanity the lofty message of Vedanta: "You are Divinities!" Our divinity alone is capable of inspiring us to find dignity in life and assures us of bright possibilities in the future. This noble philosophy is based on the solid spiritual experience of the mystics. When Vedanta is understood in its true perspective and is accepted earnestly, it will become our new ethos.
