This is the second part of the third volume of the Catalogue of Sanskrit and Prakrit Manuscripts' published under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. We are thankful to the Ministry for making this publication possible. Keeping in view the very large number of manuscripts preserved in the Institute, these catalogues are appearing part by part. Two volumes divided into 4 parts, besides Pt. I of the third volume have already come out as series no. 71, 77, 81, 82, 85 of the Rajasthan Puratan Granthmala'. The present one numbered 91 contains information about 4718 manuscripts written on a variety of subjects. Manuscripts accessioned from 10,101 upto 18, 237 have been thus covered by both the parts of the present volume.
The scheme for classification is the one approved by the Ministry of Education. However, extracts from important manuscripts have also been given at the end which is usually not to be found in catalogues with a bare mention of the titles etc. Such descriptive catalogues prove to be of a greater help to scholars. The opening and closing portions of the manuscripts have been reproduced in the appendices to identify the manuscripts. No effort has, however, been made to alter the actual text by editing these portions. The colophons however reveal a good deal of information in respect of the authors, commentators and the scribes.
Each of the manuscripts was examined thoroughly. Conjectural dates have been given wherever dates were not to be found in the manuscript itself. Every precaution has been taken in compiling the Catalogue. In spite of the utmost attention paid to proof reading etc, mistakes have also crept in thereby making room for an Errata'.
