Book Description

Preface "CASS Studies is not planned to be a regular Journal of the Centre of Advanced Study in Sanskrit. It will be issued as a zwanglos publications and will mainly contain some of the papers read and discussed at the fortnightly seminar meetings of the Faculty of Centre. It is expected that it will also serve as a further impetus to the research activities of the faculty", -this is what the Late Professor R. N. Dandekar, the first Director of the CASS wrote on 26th January 1973 while releasing the first issue of the volume. The second volume was issued in 1974 as a tribute to University of Poona on the occasion of its Silver Jubilee edited by Prof. Dandekar. In subsequent years the third, fourth, fifth and sixth Numbers are issued in 1976, 1978, 1980 and 1982 respectively, the last being dedicated to the Late Professor G. B. Palsule edited by Prof. S.D. Joshi, then Director of CASS.

I am happy that the seventh issue is being released in the hands of Dr. Narendra Jadhav, the Honorable Vice Chancellor, University of Pune, after a gap of 25 years. Now we have planned to publish this volume as a regular Journal and as a mouthpiece of the Centre and its activities.

I am indebted to the staff of the Centre of Advanced Study of Sanskrit and Department of Sanskrit for their assistance and help of all kinds in bringing out this volume.
