The present publication is part of the Lecture-Monograph series under the aegis of Western Regional Centre of Indian Council of Historical Research, Pune. The lecture was delivered by an eminent scholar in Western Indian Region, Dr. Mangala Chinchore. I thank Dr. Chinchore for providing manuscript of her lecture to the WRC for the benefit of the researchers and students. As the theme 'Buddhist Philosophy: An Attempt to Reappraise', suggest, I hope, her findings and interpretations are going to help the scholars working on such topics. I must thank Dr. Chinchore for finding time to enrich WRC activities.
I also congratulate Western Regional Centre for successfully coming up with this series and hope such endeavours will go on.
At the same time, I commend the efforts and support of the officials at ICHR's headquarter, New Delhi.
