WHAT 'BRAHMA: CREATOR GOD' IS ABOUT?
Brahma is revered as the creator of the universe, the father of the gods and humans alike. He is an important member of the Trimurti - the triad of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Peculiarly enough both the latter have innumerable temples devoted to their worship while Brahma is remembered mainly in name.
Brahma is the god who fell from supremacy to an undignified and undistinguished position. This has been attributed to his nature of granting boons of enormous magnitude to his devotees, some of whom were demons and which were never used for the benefit of humanity, but were utilised for the propagation of the selfish and evil interests of the seeker. The consequences of this act later necessitated interventions by Vishnu or Shiva to retrieve the status quo ante.
The incestuous relationship that Brahma had with his daughter did nothing to enhance his standing. Be what it may, his mythology is remarkably interesting.
