Book of Youngish is the third book of Valliammai Arunachalam. This book is for the youngish, parents of the youngish and teachers of the youngish. It deals with the major problems faced by the youngish and how to handle such problems with some mind rules. This book would create awareness among parents, teachers and on children's mindsets.
"Youth is the hope for our future," says Jose Rizal, a Filipino writer. Such profound and significant words. In various stages of life, adolescence is a vital period. There are many educational institutions, books, and renowned educators and intellectuals here. However, we lack a structured method for guiding youngsters. We don't have any documents to teach children what is right and wrong at that age, other than seminars, newspaper articles and stage speeches here and there. We might even strongly say that Valliammai Arunachalam has already taken the first step by writing a book on this subject.
Children entering adolescence need to be taught everything from "good touch" and "bad touch" to the changes that occur in the body as a result of hormone release. In today's educational surroundings, both teachers and parents do not encourage children to read other books or learn anything other than textbooks. Because of this, the youth break down physically and mentally. Valliammai emphasises this in her work.
The writer Valliammai's field for this work is fairly small. Venba and Malar are two young girls who study ninth grade at the same school. The tale revolves around their parents and teachers, with little incidents that take place around them. The incidents mentioned by the author, Valliammai are faced by many people in their daily life. But they pass without any care. This is the first shock that the book reveals. For example, Malar, a teen gets poor marks in her subjects. Her parents and teacher scolded her for that. This situation induced her to commit suicide. Valliammai describes how Malar handled this. Besides she poses some questions based on Malar's decision and wants you to answer them. While reading, it makes us feel why we didn't have such questions when such things happen. We get clarity while finding the answers to those questions. This is the speciality of this book.
We come across so many youngsters committing suicide because of scoring poor marks, relationship issues and lifestyle stresses. When I came to know about the human mind, I wondered why we get stressed unnecessarily for many reasons. This thought made me write a book for our youngish. I would be happy if this book helps them to handle the situations in a better way.
