Whereas, let me confess at the outset, I have seldom written any foreword for the book, yet The Bimbette, resonates very eloquently with me, for I sincerely feel that the author Vivekanand Jha has sincerely endeavoured to showcase the aesthetic beauty of the cultures of Mithila, along with that of Bangla, evocatively for the global community. Small wonder then, the beauty of marital rituals of Mithila, like 'Aelai Subhae ke laganma' is so beatifically blended with 'Ululudhvani' of that of Bangla culture, tantamounts to depicting the tradition of Mithila as well as Bengali, in their pristine purity. This, I feel, is a spectacular endeavour to educate the global community about the core traditions of Mithila juxtaposing with that of Bangla. Unequivocally then, when the author Vivekanand Jha requested me to design the Cover Page of the book The Bimbette, I was sincerely interested in it, especially after visiting the content of the book. As one of the practitioners of the Art of Mithila Painting, I took it as a daunting challenge. No wonder, it took me almost ten days to contemplate about the most perfect design which could reflect the mirror image that the novel, The Bimbette, so ardently envisages.
