Bhaja Govindam is probably the most popular work of Sri Shankaracharya. The verses are hard hitting. touching the core of a person instantly and challenging our understanding of human relations and goals. Sri Shankara analyzes the pitfalls of human life in order to exhort a person to examine the human goals and to pursue the right goal. He instructs the path of devotion, the path of self- purification by yoga and the path of self-enquiry under the guidance of a teacher.
The book is also called moha-mudgara, which means a hammer which demolishes our wrong thinking.
