It is heartening that the Maharajadhiraja Kameshwar Singh Kalyani Foundation, Darbhanga, which is engaged in the noble task of promotion of culture has taken the initiative to bring out a new revised edition of 'Bhagalpur Darpan' Part-1, Vol-1, written by Jharkhandi Jha, published by Yuganatar Sahitiyak Karyalaya, Baijani under the banner of Lok Hitaishini, Bhagalpur and printed at Sri Lakshmi Narayan Press, Benares City, in 1933. Written on one of the most strategic and culturally rich regions, Bhagalpur, by a very enlightened but materially inconsequential person, it soon become a rare but highly prized book from different angles. To bring out the book in a new form by the Foundation, is a welcome service to the State of Bihar and Bhagalpur, and it is also a real tribute to the untiring energy and deep scholarship of Sri Jha, who wrote the book in great constraint, discharging his official responsibilities as an Asstt. Teacher of English at Shiri's Institution, Madhepura. It was a high school named after a British Officer.
A native of Baijani, situated nearly 10 K.Ms. away from Bhagalpur headquarters on the main road to Santhal Pargana, and serving as a useful link a bridge between two cultures of Anga and Santhals, Sri Jha gave renown to it.
