Book Description
About the Book

Between Friends Vol 3 covers a wide range of issues, many of which draw attention to the ethical challenges involved in everyday events. Once more the author offers the reader much to mull over in the format of letters, a format which is uniquely her own.

About the Author

As a student Margaret Chatterjee read Modern Greats (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) at Oxford where she was awarded an exhibition at Somerville College. Subsequently she did intensive research on Gandhi's life and thought on which she has written eight books. She had opportunities for teaching at university level in several countries and this made her familiar with many cultures. Her writings in different genres reveal her deep concern with the human condition as it is today and what the prospects may be for tomorrow.

Preface

In Between Friends Vol 3 Sid and David continue to exchange ideas as they did in the preceding volume with this title, covering a wide range of issues, many of which draw attention to the ethical challenges involved in everyday events. The searchlight of inquiry crosses many frontiers in keeping with their experiences in several countries. Allusions, anecdotes, so-called road-maps, dislocation of population, violence, and typecasting of thinkers through inadequate study of their work are but a few of the matters discussed. New analyses of the writings of Adam Smith and Isaiah Berlin are followed by an intriguing look at Annie Besant's career.
