Preface I am really fortunate and consider myself the most blessed one in the field of Ayurvedic clinical medicine as I met my beloved master Dr. L. Mahadevan, a powerful healer.

Dr. L. Mahadevan is a unique personality. He practices the traditional system of medicine with his own new style of ideas I got an opportunity to learn under him after I completed my BAMS from Amrita school of Ayurveda. After my graduation, I approached Dr. L. Mahadevan's gurukulam in order to make an attempt to understand his logic of gunas and clinical diagnosis. Working with him and his patients, was a spiritual journey. He has a mathematical precision in diagnosis and we all got glued subconsciously and got slowly accustomed to his way of thinking He never asked us to come and sit with him, or never took classes on a regular schedule, but still we could feel that the trdosic consciousness was blossoming in our hearts gradually. Things looked more promising and curiosity for diagnosing a case with solid records was budding within me, as ! sat with him.

Some of his concepts impinged my mind and changed my whole view on Ayurveda. Dr. L. Mahadevan had his own clinical authoritativeness, in the sense, a clinical dominance which was very powerful in making the diagnosis. He could provide new energy, new light and clarity about the disease condition to many students and patients. I often felt that many students were not fortunate enough to get such training in bedside clinical medicine from an eminent teacher like him.

Dr. L. Mahadevan often during my early days had discouraged me from reading other books on Ayurveda and had advised me to listen to and follow him. He lead me step by step into the right direction.

We, the students were continuously gravitating to the diagnostic skill and the basic knowledge that he imparted to us. His organized skills and father like affection has helped me to document his words I salute his spirit which infuses every page of this book. His new provocative ideas will definitely open the mind of many upcoming doctors. He is doing a brilliant job in a remote village in bringing together ancient insights and modern information for the wellbeing of the people from all over the world and for the upliftment of the Ayurvedic student community. He sees patients with grace and writes prescription elegantly. His works will one day become landmarks in the field of Ayurvedic clinical medicines for the present generation. There is complete openness in his teaching. He never concealed any knowledge from his students and openly accepted his limitations if he is unaware about any matter. Above all, he respects all other systems of medicines.

He always welcomed others to expand their concept on Indian System of Medicines and he was successful in taking them to a majestic level of clinical realization. He has a brilliant way of absorbing the concept of tudosa siddhanta, and has treated great many number of cases. Presently he is considered as the most wanted clinical doctor by Ayurvedic student community.
