This cute little volume is compiled by Dr.T.Sreekumar, who has 32 years of teaching experience to his credit. He is now the Professor and Head, Department of Kanyariya, Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda College, Thrissur, Kerala. He has commentated and translated Astatigahrdaya Satrasthana into English.
PREFACE Principles of Ayurveda are so intricate but nature allied. These principles are explained in Aging hridava, in splendid verse. But in Aspiring hridava, neither the fundamental philosophical aspects of cosmogony (Srgi nirapanini) nor the basic principles used in understanding the scientific treatises (Tantra) of Ayurveda are explained, rendering these elusive to the average student. Though these principles are narrated in some texts (like Suiruta Samhita) and by some commentators (like Arunadatta in his Saraswativasundara commentary); many students cannot digest them properly, f these does not form the corpus of their UG studies. Fortunately, the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) has come forth with the revised syllabus, including these also, along with Astana hardy subject.
Many of these Principles of understanding cosmogony or of treatises are difficult to follow from the basic texts, hence the need for a simple, easy to follow book on these principles (Siddhantas) which are elementary to the understanding of Ayurveda as well. These Principles were included in an earlier work of my Guru, Professor C.R.Agnives, in ^is phenomenal work on 'Ayurvediya Padartha Vijilarnam'. However, as the text was held to be all encompassing and elaborate; another book, ayurvediya Padartha Vijanam and Ayurvida chiasm a syllabus-wise text s on the stands now. After training me on the principles of understanding cosmogony and tantric; Professor Agonies gave me the liberty to extract -exquisite data for a syllabus-wise small book on Maulika Siddhanta, when He was with us, hence this book. I bow my head at his boundless Curiously, Tantrayukti (logical application of treatises) is missing - the syllabus; for which also I have found a little space in this small book as think it is necessary to study Tantrayukti if the study of ayurveda is to be complete.
As in the case of my previous efforts, I hope the academy of Tovar, fade will be kind enough to accept this little baby and to provide me gestations to improve myself.
