Foreword

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian system of Medicine practiced since time immemorial of Vedas. References in Rigveda Samhita on praising the magical hands of Ashwini Devatas-The twin Physicians is the apt example for this. Scope of Ayurveda has spread to the edge of our awareness. This has become only possible due to the wisdom of our ancient Indian scholars.

Ayurveda alone can fulfil all needs of a Medical system.

Ayurveda has successfully experimented various branches of medicine such as Anatomy. Physiology, Aetiopathogenesis. Diagnostic Techniques, Disease Managerial Strategies etc. Ayurveda also provided much scientific rationality for various biological functions of the human body such as Blood circulation, Respiration process etc.

'Ayurveda' deals with the properties and actions of food and medicine which are responsible for the increase and decrease of bodily elements; influence of time factor on body; gains and losses and happiness and misery of life i.e.. 'Ayu' of living being etc.

We are managing 3 S.D.M. Ayurveda Colleges and Hospitals at Udupi. Hassan and Bengaluru to promote and popularise the Ayurveda system. There is good response and feedback from the patients who are completely recovered after treatment in our Ayurveda Hospitals.

Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, along with multiple projects towards people's interest, lays significant importance for innovative and philosophical ideologies. With this motto here precious good old manuscripts are collected, preserved and edited through experienced, skilled scholars. 'Shri Manjunatheshwara Culture Research Center' has been established for this purpose. At present, it has collection of more than 7500 South Indian script-based Palm leaf and Paper manuscripts. Especially more than 285 Medical manuscripts are also preserved. Ugradityacharya's Kalyanakaraka, Pujyapada's Kusumakara, Roga lakshana mattu chikitse, Shridharadeva's Vaidyamruta, Vallabhendra's Vaidya Chintamani are few examples of collection of Medical Manuscripts. They are scientifically preserved and systematically edited by the manuscript ologists, which are further taken up to the level of publication also.

I wish that Ayurveda students. Doctors and Researchers welcome and accept this medical literature positively and take advantage of it to enrich their knowledge and professional excellence.
