‘When the word of my love breaks out of its silence and speaks in your hearts, telling you who I really am, you will know that this is the real word you have always been longing to hear’ -Meher Baba
Known as one of the Perfect Masters, Avatar Meher Baba touched millions of lives and passed away in 1969. Since then, his followers, who were blessed to have had been under his direct care, feel his presence strongly, even until date, and live their lives in complete devotion to him.
Now, after more than fifty years after his passing, one of the most read and loved spiritual writers, Ruzbeh N. Bharucha, pieces together what it was to have experienced Baba in person-to have been blessed by him. Through interviews with his followers, Bharucha recreates the life and times of Baba, his deep connection with his Mandali, his miracles, his methods and his teachings.
Such is the power of their words that Baba comes alive to readers like he had never been gone. It is a rare collection for those who would like to know more about what it was like to be with the Avatar himself.
A devotee of Sai Baba of Shirdi, Ruzbeh N. Bharucha is one of the most influential spiritual writers of our times. He is the author of twenty-one books, including the bestselling The Fakir quadrilogy, which have been translated into several languages.
His book Rabda: My Sai . . My Sigh, published by Penguin Random House India, was an instant bestseller.
Ruzbeh is the 110th Master for the 'Speaking Tree', where he writes popular blogs on spirituality. ICE with Very Unusual Spirits, a bestseller in 2017 published by Penguin Random House India, is still on Amazon's `Best Reads' list. Bharucha's Facebook page has reached out to thousands in a very short span of time. The daily affirmations and messages are a source of inspiration to many.
Avatar Meher Baba: The Twilight Songs is a labour of love by Ruzbeh N. Bharucha, a scholarly author on spirituality. It was my pleasure to be associated with him and this project right from its nascent stage. It began with Ruzbeh coming over to my home on four occasions to lend an ear to my stories.
Cyrus Khambata and I had the pleasure of being the co-editors and consequently read all the articles up front before they were released. Some of the contributors of the stories had connections with the Beloved Baba in their foetal stage and yet some others as infants, who were rocked in His lap. Some spent long years and some a few fleeting moments with Him; some have narrated their parents' connection with the Beloved as they had not yet been birthed. We must understand and learn to accept the fact of past-life regression of these fortunate ones, where one common factor emerges and that is, their past lives. They were surely connected with the Avatar as either a mandali or His close disciples, dedicated workers, influential associates or even silent appreciators. Be rest assured, people like Naosherwan Nalavala and Hilla Talwar (Kotwal) have also been part of the Blue Bus Tours.
This book is not for today's generation as the present generation is privileged to hear first-hand from those who are still around. This book is for posterity, for the future generation, as they will need to rely on books and videos. This book will richly serve that purpose. The plus point of this effort is that those who are not public speakers and are diffident to speak in public have come forth to relate their experiences for the very first time. We bless Ruzbeh for his effort!
Going through the book, one sees the spiritual as well as the human side of their Beloved Baba as well as His puckish sense of humour.
