The Central Council of Indian Medicine has included Vagbhata' s Astanga Hridaya Sutrasthana in B.A.M.S. Syllabus. The knowledge of sutrasthana of this text is very useful for beginners ofAyurveda to make their base strong enough about Ayurvedic fundamentals and it would be also helpful in grasping the subject easily. The Hindi commentary 'Samvartika' on Sutrasthana of this text written by Prof. Banwari Lal Gaur is very useful. For the benefit of Ayurveda community and learners it is being translated in English language as "Jyotsna Commentory". The base of this English commentary is fully "Samvartika Vyakhya", but during translation it has been tried to use easier language, to make it easy understandable. Presently the Ayurveda is receiving global acceptance, therefore this English commentary will definitely attract scholars of different countries to expand their basic knowledge of Ayurveda. The translator Dr. Vishwavasu Gaur tried his best to present his father's great work. It is expected that this book will be useful for prospective readers of global Ayurveda community.
About the Translator Dr.Vishwavasu Gaur born on 4th February 1979 in Jaipur. Dr. Gaur, the youngest son of eminent Ayurveda expert and administrator Prof Banwari Lal Gaur, Vice Chancellor, Rajasthan Ayurveda University. Dr. Vishwavasu Gaur, translator of Astanga - Hridaya Sutrasthana Commentary "Samvartika Vyakhya" as Jyotsna Commentary in English language has received his BAMS degree in flying colours from Rajasthan University. Along with his expertise in English language, he had also gained knowledge of Sanskrit and Ayurveda in inheritance too. After graduation he had started his own Ayurveda treatment centre and also involved in manufacturing Ayurveda medicine. Presently he is the Managing Director of a well established pharmaceutical company. In spite of his busy schedule he always find out the time to remains in touch of Ayurveda texts and published many articles in reputed news papers. The main ambition of Dr. Vishwavasu Gaur is to translate various texts of his father Prof. Banwari Lal Gaur, in the English language and to make available these knowledgeable texts to Ayurveda scholars of India and abroad. By following his father in Ayurveda treatment, Dr. Gaur has received the skill ofAyurveda treatment and also inherited his quality to become an author.
