PREFACE Swami Pranavanandaji, God incarnate and founder of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, took birth in Bajitpur,Bangladesh. In 1896, Bangladesh was called East Bengal, was a state of India and the language was and still is Bengali. As such all the writings of the Sangha were done in Bengali. The songs that are in this book are the most popular. They have been selected from song books assembled by our current revered President Shrimat Swami Akshyanandaji Maharaj and Shrimat Swami Nirmalanandaji. The latter was one of Ashram's premier writers and its late secretary.
These Bhajans are the expressions of devotion to our beloved Guru, affectionately called Guru Maharaj. Most of them were penned by Swami Vedanandaji, the Veda Vyasa or author of the Sangha. These songs like all great poetries relate the inner feelings of great or realized souls and of their relationship with God.
Bengali language in itself is most rhythmic and listening to these bhajans will certainly capitivate your attention and lead you into relaxation and concentration. Audio cassettes will be available shortly so that you can enjoy at your convience. The explanation that have been given will certainly enrich your lives and relationship with God. It is the sincere wish of the' Sangha that you have the patience and yearning to include these bhajans in your religious and spiritual sadhana.
This book also contains popular Hindi bhajans, Havan mantras and a little about learning music. The idea is to make it inclusive without being cumbersome.
Please put on your learning cap and at the same time do enjoy. Jai Guru Swami Pranavanandaji
