This series dealing with the work of modern Indian artists endeavours to bring to the public at low cost the art of our own times. Each pocket-book contains an introduction, reproductions in colour and black and white and a short biographical note.
For sometimes Lalit Kala had published monographs in bigger format also, but then it was decided to go back to the more popular small size series. This series is being undertaken by the Akademi with the intention of popularizing the work of Indian leading artists. In conformity with the general policy of the Akademi these pocket books are being sold on a no profit no loss basis.
Arun Ghose writes regularly on art and has authored a large number of researched catalogues which includes Art of Bengal 1850-1950. Trends and talents in art of India today and Symbolic expression, Multiple Charade in the art of Ashoke Bhowmuick. His book Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage was published in 1980.
He has curated many important art exhibitions in India and abroad and lectures regularly on art.
