Foreword
A few years after passing out from BHU, I heard about a brilliant student of archacology, who at the time was completing his Ph.D. under Dr. P.C. Pant. It was Dr. Pant, my mentor, who mentioned about the excellent fieldwork that this young man had undertaken. He was none other than Pradeep Kumar Behera who was awarded the Ph.D. degree for his research work titled "Archaeology of Sundargarh District: With Special Reference to the Brahmani Valley, Orissa" in 1989. Between 1990-1993 he also worked on "Megaliths of Southern Uttar Pradesh: An Ethnoarchaeological Perspective", as a Post-Doctoral fellow under Dr. Pant.
