Almost all the documents are of immense significance in regard to their historical and archival value. They cover the period of the Asaf Jahi dynasty only, especially the firmans, hukms, other royal orders issued by the Nizam VI and the Nizam VII The Official language used in these documents is Persian.
Altogether these are 65 facsimiles in this volume and they are arranged themewise like treaties, grants given to educational institutions, correspondence of eminent peronalities, etc. The social aspect is also covered by including a significant document which is a royal order prohibiting Sati.
It is also the first publication being brought out during the centenary year of this department and it is hoped that the readers would gain useful insights without the trouble of going through the originals. It is also a valuable and welcome addition to the field of modern Deccan History. Thus these occasional papers in an illustrative form would serve the scholars in a better manner and the arrangement of the records in the thematic form would reveal the cohesive and significant role of Andhra Pradesh State Archives and Research Institute.
