Book Description
About the Book
The book comprises twenty-one selected research papers, some of which have been presented in the seminars or conferences but remained unpublished. This book is not just an act of preservation but it is, in fact, a comprehensive presentation of current research on Haryana, which will prove highly informative and thought-provoking to scholars, in the history and culture of Haryana. The scope of this book is vast-from Stone Age to the Modem times. One of the main objectives of this book is to bring forward the research being conducted in Haryana or related to Haryana that is not often well published. We also aim to bring out cutting-edge research in scientific, technical and methodological fields to the focus area of this book. As a result, our understanding of the subject is wanting in clarity and, more importantly, fullness, on several counts; and many questions, which the present generation asks to satiate their fresh interests in their past, remain unanswered-in parts, if not wholly. The present book seeks to supply the desideratum because of which this situation has arisen.

The scope of this book is vast - from Stone Age to the Modem times. One of the main objectives of this book is to bring forward the scholarly research being conducted in Haryana or related to Haryana that is often not well published. We also aim to bring out cutting-edge research in scientific, technical, and methodological fields to the focus area of this book. The research papers in this book will engage in debates across archaeology, history, and heritage and compare institutions, discourses. and practices of the scholars, institutions, and organizations working in the state.

Haryana has been the historical and cultural centre, during ancient, medieval and modern periods. The archaeological investigations carried out in the region over the last five decades or so have brought to light diverse cultural patterns. Haryana came into existence as a new state of the Union of India on November 1, 1966, when it was carved out of Punjab on linguistic basis.
