The socio-cultural aspects of India is said to be an amalgamation of diverse social and cultural elements. The people of India present their historical, traditional, spiritual, artistic, ideological and philosophical features through their own methods. Society is the hub of any nation and it includes cultural life, livelihood aspects, natural beauty and artistic standard with its diverse patterns. The growth and development of a society is based on its variegated forms of economy, culture, religion, folklore, folktales, festivals, and different traditions. The present volume edited by Guptajit Pathak and Dr. Doyel De will depict the value of history, society, culture, philosophy, religion, traditional identity, art and craft, tribal identity, women empowerment, gender studies of India which will be beneficial for the students, researchers, academicians and others.
Guptajit Pathak, IQAC Co-ordinator and Assistant Professor, Department of History. Kanya Mahavidyalaya (Affiliated to Gauhati University), Guwahati, Assam, India, is an academician, trilingual contemporary poet, story writer, script writer, author, translator, reviewer, resource person as well as a prominent editor. His poems, stories, articles, reviews and research papers are published in many regional, national and international journals of repute & ezines and translated into different languages. Mr. Pathak has been honoured with "Outstanding Researcher in History" award for his contribution in historical research conferred by Global Outreach Research & Education Association in the 3rd Global Outreach Research and Education Summit & Awards on 31st July, 2019 at Bengaluru. He has acted as a resource person in Online National Seminar titled "Literary Emperor Anna Bhau Sathe" on 1st & 2nd May, 2020 at Arts & Commerce College, Phondaghat, (Affiliated to University of Mumbai) Maharasthra, India. At present, he is a Doctoral Research Scholar in the Department of History, Assam University (Central), Silchar, Assam, India and the convener of National and International workshops, seminars and conferences.
Dr. Doyel De is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History of Raja Rammohun Roy Mahavidyalaya, Hooghly, West Bengal (Affiliated to The University of Burdwan). She has completed her Doctoral Degree on the "Influence of Sri Maa Sarada Devi on the Ramakrishna Vivekananda Movement" from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata in 2017. Her Thesis is highly appreciated by the experts. Beside working as Chief Editor for couple of books, she has presented a number of papers in various Regional, National and International Seminars and achieved a number of Best Paper Awards and engaged in writing for several National and International Journals and books.
The book "Approaches to Indian history and culture" is a much needed research-based intervention which will address significant issues of our times. The editors of the book have given their hundred percent to cater to the need of analysis, interrogation and expression as expected in a discourse like this.
