Foreword

It is my pleasure to write few words by means of introduction arid appreciation of Dr. D.N. Pande book entitled ‘Anushastra Karma-Parasurgical Therapy at a Glance’. As a follower of integration-Dr. D.N. Pande is a competent authority to focus on this very important subject. He dealt the topics using all his theoretical and practical experiences during his long period of 22 years service as a specialist of Shalya and Sangyaharan in various institutions. He covered the topics in a very systematic manner starting from Poorva Karma (Sangyaharan-Anaesthesia), Pradhan Karma to Paschat Karma. He included the photographs also to explain the methodology of the different procedure. No doubt the book will be proof an asset in the armamentarium of Ayurvedic surgical discipline and will fulfill the demand of the present day hen a separate P.G. Course is introduced by C.C.I.M. as M.S. (Ay.) Anushastra Karma. Vide Gazete Notification dated 3rd Feb. 2005. I congratulate him for this noble cause and wish that he will write more and more in future.

Preface

Anushastra Karma is a very important topic described in Sushrut Samhita. Acharya Sushruta advocated it’s importance at several places specialy for the diseases where surgery with knife is difficult and frutile. Keeping in view the importance of Anushastra Karma C.CJ.M. has introduced a full 3 yrs. P.G. Course in this prestigious discipline. Therefore I tried to write a very comprehensive book on this subject-covering the undergraduate and postgraduate syllabus. I made effort to write in a very easily understandable language. The book is purely based on experiences gained in several institutions by me and by other senor learned teachers like Prof. P.D. Gupta and Prof. Kulwant Singh. The correlations with modem medicine are also tried and scientific shape is given to make it more convenient and updated. A good collection of photographs are given to understand the topics easily and practically.

This is a very small effort like a drop in ocean. I hope that the undergraduate and postgraduate both will find this book equally good for them. If it will focus a light on the subject and will provide some knowledge to the readers, my goal will be achieved.

I am happy to dedicate this book to my parent Late Ram Autar Pande and Late Mrs. Sarswati Pande whose memory and blessings always inspire me to keep my pen running for the benefit of society and students.
