Annotated Bibliography of the Articles on Zoology published by the Asiatic Society since its inception : 1788-2000 published by the Asiatic Society has been compiled with meticulous care by Anindita De and edited by Professor Naresh Chandra Datta, a noted expert in the field. This work would, no doubt, be considered highly useful by the investigators in the field of Zoology. Both the compiler and the editor deserve the sincere thanks of the Asiatic Society for this technical work of high value.

The present bibliography contains annotations of thousands of articles on Zoology collected from different issues of the Asiatick Researches, Journals, Memoirs, Proceedings and Yearbooks published by the Asiatic Society since its inception. Monthly proceedings of the Society published in the Captain J.D. Herbert's monthly journal 'Gleanings in Science' during 1829-1831 have also been included here. Many eminent zoologists contributed articles covering a vast field of the subject for the last 222 years and those articles help us to enrich our knowledge on this subject. These scientific communications may play an important role by revealing the scenario regarding zoological research works during the 18th to 20th centuries and thus may act as a valuable source of information.
