Book Description
INTRODUCTION

The Indian scriptures and all knowledge contained in them have originated from the Indian philosophy. Therefore, In India, the scriptures are still measured traditionally from the philosophical parameters. Hence astrology is no exception to it. Indian seers and sages had, therefore, seen everything from this point of view. The Indian philosophy has explained the mysteries of life and the universe on the basis of search and intuitive principles. Knowledge is the form and the limit of philosophy. Man is inquisitive by nature, and due to such disposition or with the motive of intense Inquisitiveness, he has always involved himself in search of resolving the complexities of philosophy. First of all, knowledge of the universe was made the subject of philosophical search because this is the main external subject. But when the external knowledge of the universe proved delusive and misleading, then to judge reality or unreality of knowledge and its contents, a rigorous test was needed for the validity of knowledge itself.

For the explanation of the universe, the substantial know- ledge can satisfy only our curiosity for a particular substance. But the complete solution of our inner impressions is out of its ambit. Man wants to analyse the mysteries of the universe; he wants to find out the base of the universe; and along with it, he has also the natural desire of fulfilling the purpose of life. Man is not only inquisitive, but also a feeler. Knowledge is only indifferent perception of objects. Feeling is emotional reaction. Of man's heart to those objects. It is not a mere perception of objects, but the innermost realization of the soul. Pleasure and pain are its common evaluates; desire and aversion. Love and hatred are its phenomenal consequences; and delight is its ideal. By the motivation of material nature, man indulges himself in such activities the emotional consequences of which do not salt to the limits of life and nature, even 'Preyas' (worldly pleasure) is not easily available; what avail then is it to speak of 'Shreyas' (blessedness)? Whereas 'Preyas' gives us sensuous pleasures by gratifying our lusts, 'Shreyas' opens a gate to eternal blessedness by giving contentment and calmness to the soul."

The Indian philosophy views the Soul as birth less and deathless, but regards the change of the body according to the Karmas (actions) as the natural attribute of the individual soul. Residing even in the body of a being, the Indestructible Soul is Free, Formless. Eternal and Conscious. But It appears destructible and bound only because of the binding nature of 'Karmas' of Individual beings.
