Anandakanda (Betageri Krishna Sharma - 1900-82) created an honourable body of literature while forming his own personality. He never regarded literature as a by product of life on the contrary it was the very criss-cross of his 'life-cloth'. The literature produced by him, being an outcome of meaningful union of life and writing, is endowed with a capacity to motivate young writers and pave new ways of writing. Anandakanda played a vital role in opening new avenues of Navodaya literature in Kannada in the northern Karnataka through his monthly literary journal and composition of literature.
Raghavendra patil, the writer of this book is a novelist and short story writer of repute, whose works have won Sahitya Akademi Award and many other awards. After his retirement as principle and administrator of Malladihalli Anatha Seva Ashram, a renowned educational centre in Chitradurga district of Karnataka, he is involved in popularizing the literature of Krishna Sharma throughout Karnataka as the President of Betageri krishna Sharma Memorial Foundation instituted by the Government of Karnataka.
Dr. Shashidhar G. Vaidya, the translator of this book is serving on the staff of the department of English, B.E.S.M., College Bydagi. He is a reputed translator and bilingual writer, who has published many research papers and over a dozen books in English and Kannada. His short story collection (translation) won for him Sri Sadashiva Kori Endowment Award (Kannada Sahitya Parishat). He is also the recipient of Jnana Sanjeevini State Level Award in recognition of his service rendered in empowering the rural poor student community.
