Preface

I'm Dr. S. Seethalakshiti, Grand Daughter and drauple of Sangeetha Kalandha Palma Bhushan Late Dr. IV Rajam lyer the seniormost disciple of Arryakudi Ramanuja lyengar who had learned the Muthuswamy Dikshitar kritis from Justice Sn 11 Venkatarama lyer. I'm currently working as Avestant Professor in the Department of Music, Central University of Tamil Nadu. Thiruvarur.

It was my dream to bring out a simple and easily understandable book for beginning learners of Carnatic music. This book entitled "Amruta Gaana Manjan is my humble attempt. It has been observed that beginners in the field of Carnatic music experience difficulty in singing the various exercises in 3 speeds. Hence this book has been designed to include the basic lessons on Saraļi Varisai, Janța Varisai, Dâttu Varisai. Upper Sthayi, Lower Sthayi and Alankara-s in 3 speeds. Moreover, this book also includes Tiśram exercises in Sarali Varisai, Janța Varisai, Dățțu Varisai, and Alankara-s which would be helpful for singing Pallavi at advanced stage. Hope this will be helpful for the students. Kindly excuse me for shortcomings if any in this book my humble pranams to Parama Pújya Sri Sri Sri Ganapathi Sachchidananda Swamiji for blessing me to publish this book. Namaskarams to Gurus Sangeetha Choodamani Sri Srimushnam Raja Rao and Smt. Padma Chandilyan for their Encouragement and blessings by providing a foreword for this book.
