Shri Ram Chand Mahajan was born on June 27, 1904 in a village Chuharmundra in district Syalkot of Punjab, which now is part of Pakistan. Shri Mahajan ji developed great love for the Arya Samaj during his school days through the influence of his uncle late Lala Behari Lal who was very active in the affairs of the Arya Samaj. He received his degrees of B.A. and M.A. from the Punjab University, Lahore. During his college education he came Headmaster of first D.A.V. School and a staunch follower of Rishi Dayanand. This association left a permanent mark on his mind to serve Arya Samaj.
in contact with Mahatma Hans Raj, the first Ram Chand Mahajan 1904-1998 Shri Mahajan Ji held position of President of Arya Samaj, Vihari, district Multan continuously for six years and held offices in Arya Samaj wherever he resided and performed social work for uplifting of rural life in Syalkot district. Twice he served as General Secretary and President of All India Mahajan Shiromani Sabha. He went to jail for the cause of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1948. Не was a member of the Convention which formed Jan Sangh and now is Bharatiya Janata Party. He migrated to United States of America in 1979 and began the work of Hindu Worship Society at Houston, Texas. He developed several number of books on Vedic philosophy which have contributed greatly to the ways of Hindu traditions.
It is a matter of great pleasure that the first edition of "Amṛtamaya Prarthana" published in U.S.A. and was so liked & eulogised by the readers concerned that all the copies published there were exhausted in an appreciably short span of time. When the book was viewed & reviewed by the authorities concerned at the D.A.V. College Managing Committee, New Delhi as also by those belonging to the Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, Delhi, they found it to be of immense use for students studying both at the School & College levels.
As the contents of the book-viz. Ved mantras, their explanatory exposition & sweet bhajans (prayer-songs)-are both in the Devnagari & Roman scripts, I am sure readers both in India & abroad will find the book beneficial for study & scrutiny.
Suggestions for the improvement of this book akin to its future editions are duly solicited.
I am pleased to learn that the second D.A.V. edition of the book Amritmay Prarthana compiled and edited by Late Shri Ram Chand Mahajan, is ready for publication.
Prayer to the God has been a hallmark of Vedic way of life. A vast literature is available on prayers in form hymns scattered in Vedas, Upanishads and other shashtras.
'Amritmay Prarthana' is a compilation of Hymns and devotional songs. The presentation in bi-lingual form (Hindi and English) as also the transliteration of Sanskrit words in Roman script has rendered this book most helpful to the readers in India and foreign countries alike. Big font size and a lot of breathing space is another notable quality of this publication that enables the readers to go through the book comfortably.
This book is a complete package for daily Sandhya, Agnihotra and allied daily rites.
I believe that this valuable book will help seekers of God in pursuing the Vedic way of life and attaining the ultimate aim of human life.
