The All-Important Yogas in Vedic Jyotisha is meant for proper analysis, constitution and fixation of effects of the Yogas in a given chart. Although a plenty of Yogas has been described in the classics where the determination of the Yoga is highly important. Nowadays, people fix Yogas in a cursory manner and thus, they simply ignore the essential conditions cited by the sages when Yoga emerges indeed. This exercise leaves the readers in a state of being ill-understanding the structure of certain Yogas. Besides their structure, the sequence of checking their constitution is also significant.
All-Important Yogas in the order of their preference have been elucidated in an easy-to-understand format with actual example horoscopes.
Much famous Yogas like the Gaja-Kesari, the Panch-Mahapurusha yogas, etc., have been dealt with in a proper manner citing all conditions of their fulfillment. In fact, the Maha-Purusha Yoga turns into an 'Upa-Purusha Yoga' under certain circumstances; therefore, covering all possible situations, one full chapter has been devoted to the subject.
Yoga, viz. Cazimi, the most popular one in the western astrology, basically has its roots in Vedic Jyotisha only. So the topic has been included here with critical notes. More than ninety significant Yogas which are not discussed in popular books are also simplified alongwith the Lunar and Solar Yogas, Raja-yogas and Naabhasa yogas, etc.
Some less discussed rather popular Yogas like the Kaala-Sarpa Yoga, Jwalamukhi Yogas, Mangalika Yoga, Reka Yogas, Hrada Yoga, Kaaka Yoga, Phani Yoga, etc. are also enunciated.
The real charm of the 'Pravrajya Yogas' does not simply confine to the state of being a Sanyasin, but it extends to the pursuit of wandering for the quest for knowledge, learning, truth, invention, research, etc.,
The fructification of any positive Yoga, even constituted properly, becomes hurdled under certain dispositions. The same have been discussed in the chapter, viz., Pitfalls in Yoga Analysis.
The book profusely enhanced with actual example horoscopes, contains the real essence of the dicta of the sages and logically deals with misgivings on the subject. A charter on the subject bound in technique and sound in application.
The Sanskrit word 'Yoga' stands for various sense in different contexts. So the word may mean, 'connection', 'combination', 'a union', 'sum total', 'blend', 'interaction' 'the Yoga' (a branch of Indian Philosophy or physical exercise, i.e., Hatha-Yoga) or 'the cosmic play of Lord Vishnu', etc.
As referred to Vedic Astrology, it primarily means, 'A combination of certain astrological factors'. In its broad spectrum, the term conveys a specific blending of several factors involving association, aspect and placement in rashis or houses of Grahas generally in the natal chart. These factors may also indulge Tithi, weekday, nakshatra, specific degrees in longitude and the quality of the moment of birth. The Yoga, in general, confers auspicious and highly desirable results on the native'.
A large number of Yogas are cited in the classics where the term remains prefixed either with 'Kaaraka' or 'Maaraka' underlining their inherent nature. So the most benevolent yogas are known as the 'Kaaraka-Yogas', while the most malevolent ones as the 'Maaraka- Yogas'.
The Kaaraka- Yogas are further cited having some adjectives like Solar or Lunar Yogas, Raja-Yogas, Dhana-Yogas, Naabhasa Yogas, etc. The Maaraka-Yogas comprise of Reka-Yogas, default Maaraka, Special Maaraka, etc. The term 'Yoga' is popularly stands for the Kaaraka effect, so we remained confined to the benevolent yogas of different grades only.
The latter ones, for manifesting their literal lethal effect, always depend upon the assessment of longevity of the native. And the same essentially calls for separate effort for dealing with, therefore, falls out of the domain of this present work. Soon we intend to come forth with that area too dealing with the most cumbersome rather confused field of Vedic Jyotisha in an authentic as well as lucid manner. Yogas mentioned here should never be taken for the 'Vishkambhadi Yogas', one of the five components of the Vedic Panchanga (ephemeris).
We must take note that yoga properly constituted in a given chart is, more or less, effective throughout life, but the effect becomes intense when supported by favourable dasha, etc.
Whereas, the yogas instill qualities, reflect natural responses and behavior of the native, hence, point out the basic formation of native's personality that represents his focus, goal, aspirations, ambitions, efforts put in to achieve and the suitable platform for the same during one's life time. Therefore, Yoga intensifies native's in-built characteristics, hence may reflect every time, but highlighted during favourable time-periods.
Yoga may manifest various qualitative effects for the native. In the Bhagvad-Gita, eighteen chapters hint the eighteen varieties of the yoga-effects like dedication (karma), knowledge (Jnana&VIjnana), kingship, plenty (Vibhuti), mixture of positive and negative traits (Guna-traya), Maha-Purusha (Purushottama), behavior (Aachara) and Sanyasa-yogas. Hence, the yoga that a chart obtains may conclude with the high-knowledge, the benevolent acts or the high grade Bhakti (full-fledged dedication) as Lord Krishna states:
For example, the Lunar and the Solar yogas show the in-built strength and energy of the native's body, mind and soul. The Aashraya yo gas exhibit the element of mobility or fixity. The Samkhya yogas do underline the fact that Grahas crowded in a limited number of rashis, because imbalance strengthening those occupied by on the cost of others. The maximum spread of Grahas provides a balanced state of significations of rashis and Grahas in an individual.
In the present text, an innovative elucidation of the real nature of understanding the 'Yoga' is given. The principles are profusely illustrated with actual horoscopic charts.
Some celebrated but ill-determined combinations like the 'Gaja- Kesari' or the 'Pancha-Maha-Purusha' yo gas have been discussed in an elaborate rather logical manner without straying away from the guidelines of the sages of an exalted intellect.
