About the Author Dr. Praveen Balokrishnan an Aayurveda graduate working os Assistant Professor, Deportment of Shalakya Tontro, Vishnu Ayurveda College, Shoranur. He was born in 1987 to a non: Ayurveda fomily. He had completed his under-graduation from Pankajakasthuri Ayurveda Medical College', Kottakada, Thiruvanantapuram in 2009. He had worked as a Junior Physician in Kerala Ayurveda Hospital, Aluva. Later he completed his Post Graduation in 2014 from Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Hassan.

He was awarded 1" prize in the All India Essay Competition conducted by Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal in the year 2013 for the topic Rasabhedeeyam-Redefined. This is the second consecutive time he is bagging first prize. He was awarded 2 prize for Late Paranjape Award in 2012. He has also received 2 in Karnataka State level PG. presentation competition' conducted by Himalaya Drug Company. He hos published an article in JAIM Conceptual Analysis of Physiology of Vision in Ayurveda'.

Preface The Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal has been conducting Annual Ayurveda Seminars in connection with the founder's Day Celebrations since 1964 and All India Essay Competitions since 1965. The proceedings of seminars and prize winning essays are being published regularly. They cover a wide range of topics and have become a veritable source of information to the students and researchers in the field of ayurveda. 'AGNI- THE AYURVEDIC CONCEPT AND APPLICATION' was the topic for essay competition in 2014.
