The thoughts in this book are those by which I have tried to live my life. They are the fruit of experience, not of book learning. They represent lessons learned-sometimes in sorrow, disappointment, and pain; at other times, in the thrill of discovery and of expanding joy. Sometimes I have quoted the wise words of my spiritual teacher, for it might also be said that none of this book could have been written, had it not been for the guidance that I received from him.
There are fifty-two basic subjects covered. Thus, they can be used for every week of the year. But again, if you prefer, you can meditate on the qualities that are the most meaningful to you, turning to them at times of special need.
