Book Description
Foreword

The main objective of the Central Institute of Indian Languages has been the development of all the major and minor Indian languages by way of documentation, research, teaching and material production in Indian languages and promotion and maintenance of multilingualism and multiculturalism to strengthen the bond among the Indian languages and thus establish strong community harmony and national integrity in the country.

10-Month Language Training Programme in all the Scheduled Languages of India is conducted every year from 1 July to 30 April in the seven Regional Language Centres of the Institute, situated in different parts of the country. The main aim of this programme is to help the state governments implement the three-language formula by training teachers, prospective teachers, linguistic scholars and general public who are very much devoted and concerned about the development of Indian languages.

The Advanced Course Reader Series is one of the several textbook series prescribed by the Institute for the LTP courses. It is prescribed for the second language learners in the last stage of the Training Programme. The main aim of this course reader is to impart the inclusive knowledge about the existing literature in and on the language learning as a second language. The Advanced Course Reader in Bodo entitled as Giyansri includes wide range of the literature in Bodo, such as essays, short-stories, poetry, one act plays, sci-fi stories, biographies, book reviews and songs. Thus, along with learning the language, the learners are expected to acquire knowledge about the language speaking community, their relationship with the different aspects of the world and the general knowledge about the world in the learning language.
