Professor C. R. Agnives (1947-2015) is noted for his academic brilliance as well as oratory and presentation skills. With 37 years of teaching experience in the subject of Aayurvedeeya-padaartha-vijnjaanam (Philosophy and Terminology of Ayurveda) to his credit, he was an effective writer, translator, editor, lyricist, painter and poet besides being a teacher of extraordinary esteem. He has many text books on Ayurveda in English and Malayalam to his credit. His publications in numerous journals concerning versatile subjects were the apple of the eye for readers who eagerly cherished for the forthcoming issues. He was the editor of leading journals on Ayurveda like 'Vaidyam Journal' in Kerala. No wonder, he was awarded the prestigious Dhanvantari Award (2007) instituted by the Government of Kerala. His magnum opus was the praiseworthy text book in English titled Ayurvedeeya-padaartha-vijnjaanam. The present work is a student edition of that book tailored to suit the new year-wise BAMS syllabus. This book also includes Ayurveda-itihaasam (History of Ayurveda), as the Central Council has clubbed it with the Paper II of Padaartha-vijnjanam.
