About the Author
Sri Rabindra Kumar Das comes from a vaishnavite family of village Baudpur in the District of Balasore, Orissa. He took his M.A. degree in History from Patna University in 1930 and thereafter learnt salt manufacture in Burma. He served the Indian Salt service for about twenty years and retired in 1961. during his long stay in South India, he took interest in South Indian temples and published his first book Temples of Temilnad in1964. Since then four moe books have followed. They are :1. Legends of Jagannath, Puri;2. Mysterious Konrark; 3. Bhubaneswar and its Environs; and 4. Sakhigopal -Lord in the Witness-box. The present book is the result of his unwavering interest in temples of Vrindaban, where he spent a major part of his retired life consulting old and rare manuscripts and enquiring into the history of these temples.
