About the Book Over a period of time, acupressure has gained a lot of prominence for the precise reason that it is free from any side effects since no medication/surgery is required. It is totally non-conventional, non-invasive and non-interventional. Moreover, it is seen that this therapy is very effective in helping patients suffering from cervical/lumber spondylitis; sinusitis; backaches; knee pain; heel pains; sciatica; prolapsed disc; constipation; indigestion; IBS; PMS; insomnia; depression; tennis elbow; asthma; hypertension, migraine; neuro problems, etc., to name a few.

There was demand from many quarters for having a book in question and answer form, answering the questions that generally trouble the mind of learners/readers about the efficacy and usefulness of this therapy. As the title of the book itself suggests, an attempt has been made to answer probable questions that may come to the mind of the reader. All possible efforts have also been made to explain the precise location of the trigger points shown in the figures with as much clarity as possible.

About the Authors Dr. A.K. Saxena was introduced to acupressure by an allopathic physician Dr. Daleep Saxena about 25 years ago. He started healing his family and friends with the help of this therapy. The results were very encouraging. Forums such as Rotary Club of India, India International Centre, UNDP (UNWA), etc., provided a platform to Dr. Saxena to take the message to the masses about the healing power of the human body. He has been associated with many hospitals of repute. So far he has successfully treated more than 20000 patients suffering from various ailments from all walks of life. He has also trained hundreds of people for using acupressure as a therapy in healing various ailments.

Dr. Preeti Pai has been working as a 'Yoga and Naturopathy Consultant in the University College of Medical Sciences, GTB Hospital, Delhi. She has been associated with many research projects and did remarkable work in organizing specialized therapeutic sessions for Cardiac and Psychiatric patients in Dr. R.M.L. Hospital, New Delhi. She has also been treating patients suffering from various ailments using acupuncture and acupressure therapy for more than ten years and has successfully treated more than 5000 patients till date.

Preface Since putting out my first book on acupressure viz. 'Miraculous Effects of Acupressure' which I authored along with Padma Shree Dr. L.C. Gupta on the insistence of my Revered Guru Dr. Attar Singh in English language, I have been receiving numerous letters and calls complementing in bringing out the book in a very simple language without using too many technical words. As a matter of fact what prompted me to make such an attempt was our desire to reach out to the people at the grass root level, suffering from various ailments. I had seen people spending a good deal of money and time in undergoing plathora of blood tests, getting x-rays, Ultra Sonic examinations & other tests done & there after leaving the treatment in between for the reason, (i) exhorbitent cost of the medicine or (ii) because of the heavy cost of the recommended surgery. I observed that a good number of these cases could have been taken care of without medicine or surgery, in case recourse would have been taken of getting cured using various therapies available in Nature Cure treatment e.g. taking acupressure treatment. The hassle of entering into never ending chain of blood tests, x-rays, ultrasonic examination or even MRIs, etc., which are being recommended these days as a routine. No doubt these tests become necessary in case the disease is prolonged. However, to send a patient to get MRI done who is suffering from cervical spondylitis, knee pain, migraine, sinusitis or sciatica, etc., which are in no way life threatening conditions, makes no sense to me, since such conditions can be taken care of very easily using acupressure technique.

Introduction Acupressure is perhaps one of the oldest healing arts based on the technique of stimulating various key points on the surface of the body, by applying pressure on these acu-points/trigger points (also called reflex points) with the primary objective of relieving pain or discomfort. It is believed that the human body has immense self-curing capability. As and when pressure is given on the reflex points relating to the vital organs(s) of the body, they get stimulated and the pain and discomfort, which is considered to be a sign of energy imbalance, is corrected and the patient feels relieved. How is all this achieved? In simple terms, it can be said that when the pressure is given on the selected reflex points, it releases muscular tension and promotes circulation of blood, thereby stimulating body's life force/vital force to aid the healing.
