Fanish Singh conducted extensive research on the history of Hindi literature as well as tales from other languages. The similarities between Gorky and Premchand's writings and worldviews served as inspiration for research on both, for which the Ph.D. title was awarded. In December 2000, 'Premchand and Gorky's Fiction: A Study' was released.
