A two time National Film Awardee Rukshana Tabassum is a filmmaker, writer, an artist and a trained classical dancer all in one. Rukshana got her initial lessons in art from her mother Hindia Haque who is a self taught artist and later from Mr Pranab Baruah who is a renowned artist from Assam.
Rukshana’s art reflects her journey of exploration of her self and her surroundings. Her deep rooted love for Radha-Krishna and Jayadeva’s Gita Govinda are recurring themes in her paintings. Exploring classical themes from Indian literature & Hindu mythology with a contemporary touch by using bright pop colours is her signature style. Being a storyteller her attempt is always to weave stories within her artworks and thus making them more engaging and meaningful.
Rukshana has done commissioned paintings for celebrities like Kalki Koechlin, Homi Adjanai, Ruchika Oberoi. Her murals adorn the walls of office spaces of prestigious brands like Epic On and Matchbox Shots.
