Buddha in the Dharmachakra Mudra

$95

Dharmachakra mudra is one of the most peculiar and interesting hand gestures which means the Wheel of Dharma in Buddhism. It depicts the most important moment in Buddha’s life as he performed this mudra in his first sermon in Sarnath after attaining enlightenment, as a gesture of teaching the Wheel of Dharma to disciples. Buddha painted here till upper half rests in deep concentration forming a double aureole at the back.

Painter has beautifully used this wax-resist dyeing technique of creating a Batik art with the black background highlighting the vibes of divinity that seem to be spreading out, painted artistically in unique white, yellow, orange and red color blend behind his head. The cosmic rays that emerge out from behind him at the bottom, reflect him as the supreme being. The painter has very gracefully depicted his thoughts and immense love for Buddhism in this batik painting.

Gautama Buddha, here is garbed in a divine red colored robe that falls down in ease forming parallel horizontal loose pleats; the pearl white hue reflects his inner and outer purity in mind and heart with the red lips in a gentle smile. The albatross eyes and coiled and matted hair are painted in supreme naturalism. This painting when hung at any empty wall will enhance the beauty of the place by its divine aura as well as perfection.
