A Pidi Vilakku inspired this brass lamp with a peacock on the coiled handle. The peacock on the handle represents prosperity, while the oil basin, or Arghya Patra, which resembles a leaf, is the container that holds oil or ghee. Philosophically, the Arghya Patra is also known as the false ego. The burning candle represents the light, which consumes the ego and provides wisdom. As a result, these lamps are viewed as intelligence conduits.
